Joseph Curra

Course of Wind

We set sail for coarser seas,

crucified sheets of our old skin

to the body and arms of an oak mast

that swallows the wind, exhaling us into new directions.

O, but Wind, if you fail to show your face,

if you must opt to save your breath, leaving stillness in your wake,

we will rotate the world beneath our boat,

cradling the water in our hands

and paddle on. We will find land.
