Rachel Hall | Faculty Advisor
Rachel Hall is the author of Heirlooms (BkMk Press, 2016) which was selected by Marge Piercy for the G.S. Sharat Chandra Book Prize. Her stories and essays have been published in numerous journals and anthologies, including Crab Orchard Review, Gettysburg Review, New Letters, Guernica Daily, and LitHub. She teaches creative writing and literature at Geneseo where she holds two Chancellor’s Award for Excellence–one for teaching and one for creative work.
Allison Brown | Production Advisor
Allison Brown, Production Advisor to Gandy Dancer, is the Digital Publishing Services Manager at Milne Library. She was on the staff for her college literary magazine, so she loves helping out with Gandy Dancer. Now she works on all types of open access publications and free online textbooks.
Elizabeth Roos | Managing Editor 
Liz Roos is a senior English (creative writing) major with film studies and medieval studies minors. She is from Clifton Park, New York, and volunteers at the Wild Wings Birds of Prey Center. On campus, Liz is an e-board member of Sigma Tau Delta and the Creative Writing Club, is a publishing assistant at Fraser Library, and tutors at the Writing Learning Center. She specializes in fantasy/science fiction and has been published in MiNT Magazine, The Lamron, and The Allegheny Review.
Julia Grunes | Managing Editor
Julia Grunes is a senior English (creative writing) and psychology double major from Monroe, New York. Her work has been published in MiNT Magazine, Gandy Dancer, and Iris. Though she is predominantly a fiction writer, Julia loves to write and read work that bends genre. She is currently the poetry editor of Iris, as well as a tutor at the Writing Learning Center. When Julia isn’t writing, she can be found making music with her violin or her a cappella group, Exit 8.
Nina Fichera | Fiction Editor
Nina Fichera is a junior English (creative writing) and adolescent education (English) double major with a minor in human development from Baldwinsville, New York. She is Co-President of Her Campus at SUNY Geneseo and hardly goes a day without writing. Few of her hobbies don’t involve writing, but she also loves cross-stitching, learning K-pop dances, and spending time with her friends and her dog, Cannoli.
Christopher Murphy | Creative Nonfiction Editor
Chris Murphy is a senior English creative writing and adolescent education major at SUNY Geneseo. His lyric prose has appeared in Gandy Dancer and his poetry in The Lamron Arts & Entertainment section. He lives, works, and plays in Rochester, New York and plans to pursue a career in teaching and creative writing. Some of his recent inspirations include deep conversations with family, LEGO™ succulents, instrumental post-metal, and reruns of Bob’s Burgers.
Liz Louie | Poetry Editor
Liz Louie is an English (creative writing) major in her fifth year of college. She has been a member of the Geneseo Equestrian Team for the duration of her academic career, and can be found horseback riding whenever writer’s block hits. Liz hopes to find work as a horror writer, figuring out how to bring the nuances of darkness to many different genres of her art, including poetry, short stories, essays, screenplays, and songwriting.
Sydni Baldwin | Creative Nonfiction Reader
Sydni Baldwin is a senior English major with a concentration in literature. She has been on Geneseo’s cheerleading team all four years, and she has made the competition team as a flyer all four years as well. When she’s not being thrown in the air, Sydni enjoys all things creative.
Lauren Basile | Poetry Reader
Lauren Basile is a junior English adolescent education major with a concentration in creative writing. Her post-grad plans include finding a teaching job at the high school level and continuing to seek adventure in new places. Lauren’s love for writing didn’t surface until her junior year of high school, but she hasn’t looked back since then. When she’s not writing, she can be found exploring the great outdoors or finding something crafty to create.
Jayden Bulger | Creative Nonfiction Reader
Jayden Bulger is a senior English literature major from Rochester, New York. They have been interested in writing and reading since they were in high school, and being exposed to higher level creative writing really pulled them into English. This will be their first experience with editing a literary journal. They believe that there is nothing more soothing than reading/writing some good creative writing.
Amaya DiGiovanni | Creative Nonfiction Reader
Amaya DiGiovanni is a senior English education major from Duanesburg, New York. She is a member of the SUNY Geneseo Blue Wave Swimming and Diving team, a Student Athlete Mentor, and the student member on NYSED’s Professional Standards and Practices Board for Teaching. Amaya loves crafting, thrifting, and being outdoors. In the future, Amaya plans on pursuing her Masters of Science in reading and literacy.
Madolley Donzo | Fiction Reader
Madolley Donzo is a junior psychology and English double major from Queens, New York. She enjoys getting lost in the pages of fantastical books. When she isn’t pondering psychological concepts and theories, or dabbling in fictional world-building, she can be found sitting at the Seneca Hall RA desk or with a crochet hook and yarn at her fingertips, getting ready to start her next project.
Lidabel Guzman Avila | Poetry Reader
Lidabel Avila is in her final year of undergrad, completing a degree in English with a creative writing concentration. She experiments in writing poetry and fiction, letting scattered thoughts and cultural connections guide her craft process. When she is not writing (rare), she is focused on healing—for both herself and her communities.
Anna Johnston | Fiction Reader
Anna Johnston is a senior English major with a sociology minor. She is from Buffalo, New York and is a big Bills fan. She has two older siblings, Evan and Emily, as well as a dog named Holly. When she is not reading, she enjoys any outdoor activities and is a part of the varsity softball team at SUNY Geneseo.
Ashley Kupiec | Fiction Reader
Ashley Kupiec is a senior early childhood/childhood education major with a concentration in English and a minor in the College Honors Program. She is looking forward to starting her career as an educator very soon and is especially passionate about teaching literacy to young children. In the future, she hopes to inspire her students to love reading and writing as much as she does. During her free time, Ashley enjoys acting in plays on campus, practicing yoga, and reading anything from children’s books to Stephen King.
Griffen LaBianca | Fiction Reader
Griffen LaBianca is a senior English (creative writing) major and history minor at SUNY Geneseo. His work has been published in MiNT Magazine, and while he spends most of his time writing fiction, he also works on screenplays for film and television. When Griffen isn’t on the rugby pitch he is often bartending or reading fantasy books that have piled up on his nightstand.

Jenna MacLeod is a senior at SUNY Geneseo from Cornwall, New York. She is a childhood special education major with a concentration in English. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, springboard diving, and watching movies.

Marissa Maxwell is a senior majoring in childhood and special education with a concentration in English. She is currently working as an English teacher at a charter school in Rochester, New York. Marissa hopes to continue her work as an educator after graduation, particularly servicing ENL students.
Emma Mincer | Fiction Reader
Emma Mincer is a senior psychology major and English minor at SUNY Geneseo. In addition to writing fiction in her free time, Emma is the Managing Editor of The Lamron, SUNY Geneseo’s school newspaper. Emma has written a variety of articles for The Lamron, ranging from topics such as News, Arts & Entertainment, and Opinion. Emma likes to take long walks, not necessarily on the beach, and think about her most recent writing projects. Emma can also be seen walking with her labradoodle puppy, Nutmeg.
Joshua Mora | Poetry Reader
Joshua Mora is an English and theatre double major from Queens, New York. He is an actor and writer who aspires to one day publish works of fiction, poetry, and plays. When he’s not working on those things, he crochets, bakes, and plays video games.
Kevin Reed | Poetry Reader
Kevin Reed is an English adolescent education major from Rochester, New York, whose songwriting and poetry has garnered attention from competitions such as “If All of Rochester Wrote the Same Song.” Kevin has played music with the Grammy Award-winning band Wilco, and hopes to become a high school/college educator focused on restorative practices, and trauma recovery. His focus in writing is poetry and essays; he is a fan of the works of Albert Camus, Christopher Hitchens, David Sedaris, and Daniel Dumile Thompson.
Sol Rivera | Fiction Reader
Sol Rivera is a senior psychology major with a soft spot for fiction and poetry. Their favorite authors include Sylvia Plath, Richard Siken, and Ursula K. Le Guin. Outside of Gandy Dancer, they are a coding group leader for their research group, and are involved in the on campus a capella group Emmelodics. They love their cat, music, and coffee.
Susan Romance | Poetry Reader
Susan Romance is a senior creative writing major with a film studies minor from Buffalo, New York. She has multiple poems published in the Gandy Dancer, and is excited to be working on the next edition of the magazine. When she’s not writing poetry, you can find her chit-chatting with her friends or trying to convince them to play board games with her. Outside of the classroom, Susan is a trainer for SUNY Geneseo’s Safe Zone program.
Miranda Simmons | Fiction Reader
Miranda Simmons is a junior English adolescent education major from Poughkeepsie, New York. She has been passionate about reading and writing since she was a child and hopes to pursue writing more seriously in the future. When she isn’t reading or working, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family. After college, Miranda hopes to start or advise a book club as a high school teacher.
Margaret Tepper | Creative Nonfiction Reader
Maggie Tepper is a junior adolescent education major with a concentration in English literature. She is the PR Manager for Gandy Dancer, as well as the coordinator for Geneseo Men’s Club Volleyball, a member of the Women’s Golf team, and an assistant varsity volleyball coach at Batavia High School. She enjoys spending time planning volleyball practices and tournaments or finding good YA books for her future middle school students.
Taylor Tirabassi | Poetry Reader
Taylor Tirabassi is a senior English literature major from Canandaigua, New York. Although she is unsure of her plans for the future, Taylor has always had a passion for reading and writing which she will carry with her wherever she ends up doing. At a very young age, she realized that the best way for her to express herself was through writing. She quickly discovered her voice and taught herself how to be vulnerable with others in this way. She is fascinated by language and how it brings people together.

Cassandra Walters is a senior English (literature) major and art history minor who attended high school in Hilton, New York. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta. In addition, she works at Florence’s Perpetual Estate Sale as a social media manager and online sales specialist. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time outside or on the couch with her dog, Scrappy Doo.
Sophia Weik | Poetry Reader
Sophia Weik is a sophomore English adolescent education major with a minor in film studies. For both years she has been on the Geneseo Women’s Rugby team, where she runs the Instagram and TikTok accounts. Sophia is from Miller Place, Long Island, and spends most of her time watching movies and writing both prose and poetry. Whenever she has free time she loves to longboard and hopes to be a high school English and film teacher as well as screenwrite.

Sara Wilkins is a junior English major with a concentration in creative writing. She is from Eden, New York, and misses the hiking trails behind her house. On campus, Sara loves participating in Orchesis, a dance club, and enjoys spending time with her fellow sorority members in Sisters Making a Change. In her free time, she loves to hang out with her friends, read thrilling novels, and write fiction or creative nonfiction.
