Rachel Hall is the author of Heirlooms (BkMk Press, 2016) which was selected by Marge Piercy for the G.S. Sharat Chandra Book Prize. Her stories and essays have been published in numerous journals and anthologies, including Crab Orchard Review, Gettysburg Review, New Letters, Guernica Daily, and LitHub. She teaches creative writing and literature at Geneseo where she holds two Chancellor’s Award for Excellence–one for teaching and one for creative work.


Allison Brown, Production Advisor to Gandy Dancer, is the Digital Publishing Services Manager at Milne Library. She was on the staff for her college literary magazine, so she loves helping out with Gandy Dancer. Now she works on all types of open access publications and free online textbooks.


Mollie McMullan is a senior English Creative Writing major from Long Island whose work has been published in Bards Annual and previous Gandy Dancer issues. Though she’s primarily interested in poetry, she hopes to continue to explore the creative nonfiction genre as well. In her free time, Mollie enjoys reading, creating obscure Spotify playlists, and petting her landlord’s cat, Piggie. 


Jordyn Stinar is a senior English Literature major with a minor in Business Studies, and this is her third semester on the Gandy Dancer staff. She has always enjoyed the adventures that come when reading and wishes to travel one day herself. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta and hopes to work in publishing. In her free time she enjoys reading, concerts, and spending time with friends and family.


Samantha McGinnis is a junior Adolescent Education major with a concentration in English and Creative Writing from Potsdam, New York. After college, she hopes to become a high school teacher that can inspire her students to enjoy reading, writing, and learning. She is the President for the Korean-American Student Association at Geneseo, a member of Geneseo’s chapter of HerCampus, and works part time off-campus. In her free time, Samantha enjoys reading, writing, journaling, making playlists and buying K-pop albums.


Archer Maduro is a junior creative writing major at SUNY Geneseo. They thrive in the creative nonfiction and poetry genres. In their free time, they enjoy photography, baking, and napping with their cat. Archer has previously been published in Gandy Dancer and Geneseo’s Iris Magazine.


Alex Gaboury (she/her) is a junior Creative Writing and Psychology double major, originally from Averill Park, NY. In her free time, she enjoys reading, taking aesthetic walks, baking gluten-free vegan sweet treats, embroidering, and taking care of her numerous plants. She enjoys writing–the community it lends, the art itself, and doing it herself–and is excited to be a part of others’s writing journey this year in this capacity.


Catie McGuire is a junior English major with a concentration in creative writing. She’s an avid writer and reader of creative nonfiction and poetry. In her spare time, she loves to paint and listen to music. She can typically be found wandering campus, searching for new, niche study spots.  


Emily Bosworth is a sophomore English Creative Writing major at SUNY Geneseo. She is from Long Island and brought her love for volleyball to college where she plays for the school’s club. If she is not reading or writing for her classes, she is filling her time in various clubs and events at her school. 


Caelyn Tirabassi is a junior English major from Canandaigua, New York. She loves spending her free time with family, cuddling her cats Cleo and Bacio, and enjoying Taco Bell. Her go-to order? The grilled cheese burrito with no meat and extra chipotle sauce. Caelyn is passionate about creative nonfiction writing. She is also dedicated to sharpening her skills and exploring literary genres.


Elianiz Torres is a senior English major with a concentration in Creative Writing from Putnam Valley, NY. She is a versatile writer with a passion for all genres but a primary focus in fiction writing. She hopes to be published after graduating and pursue a career in editorial work. When she’s not writing Elianiz can be found roaming around town with friends, stopping every dog on the way.


Fenrir Nielsen is a sophomore at SUNY Geneseo and a graduate of Rochester, New York’s School of the Arts. They have been very active in online writing communities since middle school and have won awards for their writing in the past. He is endeavoring to get published as a fiction author and as a visual novel designer.


Jack Carnes is a senior English Literature Major at SUNY Geneseo and is from Pulaski, NY. Outside of classes he is a member of the Men’s Club Rugby team and spends time playing bass and guitar for a few different bands. After graduating he plans to continue his education and eventually become an English teacher. In his first semester with Gandy Dancer Jack is excited to work with everyone and be exposed to the works of many writers.


Kyle Marks is a senior English Adolescent Education major. He is from York, New York. In his free time, he enjoys reading, playing games, and spending time with his cat. Kyle’s favorite writings include works of fiction from the fantasy, sci-fi, and horror genre.


Lia Calancea was born in Moldova, a small country in Eastern Europe with delicious wine and a tumultuous history. She studied Art History at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, and is currently an exchange student at SUNY Geneseo, taking courses in English, Theatre, Philosophy, and French. Lia loves reading, walking, visiting museums, art galleries, and theatre plays. She mostly writes CNF and poetry and is oftentimes torn between the two languages she loves: Romanian and English. Lia also loves reciting poetry and acting. When she is not studying, she can be found at a cute cafe with one of her best friends.


Michaela Lewis-Hardies (she/her) is a junior here at SUNY Geneseo from Amsterdam, New York majoring in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and a minor in Communications. Michaela hopes to one day be a journalist and work in the fashion industry. Outside of classes Michaela is the design manager for Iris Magazine, SUNY Geneseo’s queer literary magazine, as well as the Student Association Representative for Art Club. In her spare time she is most likely painting, writing, and listening to Taylor Swift.


Nikolete is a senior English major with a minor in Political Science. She is from Syracuse, New York, and finds it a significantly boring place. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta and a News editor for The Lamron, Geneseo’s newspaper. Nikolete is passionate about all aspects of writing but mostly enjoys editing and writing about politics and research.


Norah Fryer is a sophomore English Literature and Communications double major at SUNY Geneseo and is from Bayport, Long Island. Norah is a member of the Orchesis Dance Club, Yoga Club, and is an Orientation Leader here on campus. In her free time, Norah likes to read, write, walk with friends, dance, and go to the beach. Norah aspires to work in the publishing field after she graduates where she can continue to pursue her passion for literature.


Oliver Perkins is a sophomore English Creative Writing major at SUNY Geneseo. They are an avid poet and playwright by hobby and a future copyeditor by trade, a path they are glad has brought them through working at the Gandy Dancer.


Sarah Cooper is a Senior Childhood Special Education major with a concentration in English. She is also on the Swimming and Diving Team here at Geneseo.


Skylar is a sophomore at SUNY Geneseo. She is an early childhood and childhood education major with a concentration in English. She likes to listen to music, sing, and spend time with family and friends.


Sonia Horowitz is a sophomore English (Creative Writing track) major with a minor in Theatre from Vestal, NY. She has aspirations to continue in the field of editing and publishing post-grad. She is the secretary of the Musical Theatre Club on campus as well as being a member of an acapella group. Aside from enjoying reading and writing fiction, Sonia loves listening to One Direction and spending time outdoors with her friends.


Wrileigh Bacon (she/her) is a third year English Literature major from Syracuse, New York. She participates in various clubs such as KASA and Creative Writing Club as well as working front desk at Fraser Library. This is her first semester with Gandy Dancer. Wrileigh hopes to become a teacher and take all she learned at her time at Geneseo to her future students. When she’s not in classes, Wrileigh enjoys crocheting and baking various desserts to share with her friends and family.
