Issue 6.1 Masthead

Rachel Hall | Faculty Advisorrachel-1

Rachel Hall teaches creative writing and literature at SUNY Geneseo where she holds two Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence–one for teaching and one for creative work. Her stories and essays have been published in numerous journals and anthologies, including Crab Orchard Review, Gettysburg Review, New Letters, Guernica Daily and LitHub. Her collection of linked stories, Heirlooms (BkMk Press, 2016) was selected by Marge Piercy for the G.S. Sharat Chandra Book Prize.

Lily Codera | Managing Editor

Lily Codera is a senior English (creative writing) major and geological science double major at SUNY Geneseo with a minor in philosophy. She currently has five plants, and they are all still alive. After she graduates, she hopes to travel, teach English abroad, and to never stop learning and writing.

Meghan Fellows | Managing Editor

Meghan is a senior English (creative writing) major at SUNY Geneseo. She enjoys old library books, writing pieces that can never be finished, and drinking copious amounts of coffee in cups that are far too big. She aspires to be the cool English teacher on campus that has a huge comfy couch in her office.

Heather Molzon | Public Relations & Fiction Reader

Heather Molzon is a senior English (creative writing) major and communications minor from Long Island. After graduating, she hopes to pursue a career in marketing and move to New York City. In her free time, Heather can be found flipping through the pages of a magazine with a cup of coffee close by.

Rachel Britton | Poetry Editor

Rachel Britton is a senior English (creative writing) major and theater minor from Albany, New York. She spends too much time looking up at the stars and is in desperate need of a bigger bookshelf.

Isabel Keane | CNF Editor

Isabel Keane is a junior English (creative writing) major at SUNY Geneseo where she is the copy editor for The Lamron. Isabel often thinks about how Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote In the Heights when he was her age, and how all she ever really wants to do is sleep.

Liz Verrastro | Fiction Editor

Liz is a senior English (literature) major with a minor in psychology. She’s loved to read fiction ever since she discovered Meg Cabot’s books as a child. Liz even got to meet Meg, but was not told she was the princess of Genovia, which put a damper on things. Liz also works as a RESTORE advocate and practices lots of self-care by binge-watching Law & Order: SVU.

Sara Munjack | Art Editor

Sara Munjack is a senior English (creative writing) major at SUNY Geneseo. She grew up in Queens but also lived in Austin, Texas. She attended five different elementary schools in five years. She spends most of her time over-watering plants or writing poetry.

Timothy Blomquist | CNF Reader

Timothy Blomquist is a senior English major with a film minor at SUNY Geneseo hailing from Piermont, New York (he’s never heard of it, either). When he graduates, he wants to move out to the West Coast to make movies that make other people want to make movies. In his spare time, he enjoys playing his Xbox, attempting to write, watching movies, and waiting for Half-Life 3.

Francesco Bruno | Fiction Reader

Francesco Bruno is a senior English and philosophy major at SUNY Geneseo. After graduating, he hopes to have a pet goat and learn how to make his own maple syrup. He can be found in his dorm studying to become a sommelier or watching HBO.

Emma Corwin | Fiction Reader

Emma Corwin is a junior at SUNY Geneseo and is primarily focused on creative writing. Having taken multiple writing workshop courses, she’s found an interest in editing that she wishes to explore. For this reason, she’s excited to be on the editing side of Gandy Dancer and learn the process behind the making of a literary journal. After graduation, she plans to write (and hopefully publish) fiction novels and is considering a career in editing. Besides writing, she enjoys listening to 80’s music, buying more sweaters than she needs, and drinking bubble tea.

Gabby Cicio | Fiction Reader

Gabby is a senior English (literature) major with a minor in Philosophy at SUNY Geneseo. She is from Long Island and has recently come back from a semester abroad in the Netherlands. She loves dancing to 80’s music and is excited to work on the latest issue of Gandy Dancer.

Nicole Gartley | Poetry Reader

Nicole Gartley is a senior English major and Art History minor from Connecticut. She enjoys reading, writing, knitting, and spending time with her dog and two cats. She hopes to be a novelist someday, but until she gets there, she plans to go into editing or proofreading to help other writers improve their work.

Megan Grant | Poetry Reader

Megan is a senior Psychology major with an English minor, and she does not want to discuss her postgraduate plans. She would rather discuss Gandy Dancer, or her beloved Creative Writing Club, or where the ducks in Central Park go in the winter (maybe Orlando, FL?). One of Megan’s goals in life is to sound more pretentious than her older sibling, Samantha (Sam), who is also featured on this masthead. Also, she hopes you have a great day.

Jennifer Liriano | Fiction Reader

Jennifer Liriano is a senior Psychology major with an English minor at SUNY Geneseo. Jen was born and raised in the Bronx and currently lives in Westchester. After graduation, Jen plans on getting her Master’s degree in Social Work back home in NYC. She enjoys binge watching on Netflix, traveling, and riding bikes. Always looking for something interesting and creative, Jen is a fiction reader for Gandy Dancer 6.1.

Alisa Mentor | CNF Reader

Alisa mentor is a senior Communication major with a double track in journalism and interpersonal and profession communication. She discovered her love of reading at a young age and went on to become the Knight Life Section Editor of the Lamron in her sophomore year. She has since then stopped, but her love for reading and editing has continued. She hopes to start her own magazine in the future.

Julia Merante | Poetry Reader

Julia Merante is a sophomore at SUNY Geneseo as a Biology and English double major. She is a reader for the poetry section of Gandy Dancer and loves to write poetry in her spare time. In addition, she is on the club soccer team at Geneseo and holds the position of New Student Involvement Mentor as well.

Joohee Park | Poetry Reader

Joohee Park is a 1.75-generation Korean American from Queens and Long Island. She transferred last fall to SUNY Geneseo, where she studies English literature and caffeine intake.

She has had a passion for creative writing since she was a child, writing several short stories, novels, poems, and plays throughout her life. When she is not reading or writing, Katie can be found updating her beloved german shepherd’s Instagram account, spending money she doesn’t have at the mall, or binge-watching the Real Housewives series. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a teaching job back home before following her dream of moving to New York City.

Amanda Saladino | CNF Reader

Amanda Saladino is a senior English (creative writing) and music composition double major at SUNY Geneseo. She is hoping to go to grad school next year for music composition. Samantha Stern | Fiction Reader

Samantha Stern is a senior English literature and psychology major from New York City. She enjoys binging on Netflix, overanalyzing popular media, and slipping as many Angels in America references as possible into every day conversations, a task she hopes will result in encouraging more people to read it but actually just makes her sound pretentious.

Madison Wayland | CNF Reader

Madison is a fifth year senior and a double major in Biology and Creative Writing. She is originally from Corning, NY, and she enjoys both reading and writing creative non-fiction work.
